Seared Swordfish Salad with Avo, Egg and Tomato

This Swordfish salad is quick and easy to prepare, and a healthy and tasty low carb meal. When it comes to seafood salads many people go for the tuna option and I wanted to follow this trend today. However when I arrived at our trusted fish shop there was no fresh tuna available. As I didn't want to use precooked tinned tuna I decided to use another fresh fish instead. Of those fish on offer I picked a nice swordfish steak. The meat is firm and without bones. I usually stay away from fish that take an eternity to debone. I quickly acquired some soft, ready to eat Avocados and a few ripe organic tomatoes before I headed home.

Ingredients
for
Seared Swordfish Salad

  • 1 x Swordfish steak app: 350 gram / 12.3 oz. cut into cubes
  • 4 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 ripe organic tomatoes, diced
  • 5 spring onions, cut into thin rings
  • 3 hard boiled eggs, diced
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 2 small ripe avocados, skinned and cunto dice
  • 1/2 bunch of fresh dill, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper (or to taste), freshly ground

Directions

  • Heat 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil in a non stick skillet / pan
  • Add swordfish steak and garlic and sear fish for about 3 minutes on both sides. (The time depends on the thickness of the steak. Ideally you don't want the meat to well done.So if necessary adjust the time accordingly)
  • Remove skillet from stove and let fish cool down for about 5 minutes
  • Place the steak on a plate and cut into cubes
  • Add all ingredients including the excess oil from the skillet into a large bowl, and gently mix all ingredients together.
  • Sample a little bit of the salad and if desired add more salt and pepper to adjust the taste
  • Serve swordfish salad alone as a main meal or with some freshly baked white bread
